The Deets:
Since we began organizing six months ago, we’ve had hundreds of conversations with our colleagues and heard overwhelming support for workers at Whitman coming together!
After months of surveying the majority of 230 unit-eligible staff at Whitman, we know a strong majority already support forming a union! With budget reviews coming up, we’re building worker power to take on benefit cuts and fight for a real, democratic say in our working conditions. That means collective bargaining!
On February 19th, we will go public with our campaign. We are asking every staff employee at Whitman to sign a union authorization card, affirming our majority intent to unionize to the NLRB.
We are so excited to get all Staff together for a kickoff party and town hall on the evening of February 18th! This this is the place to be! We will come together for a banquet to share our stories, honor our hard-working colleagues, and celebrate this wonderful moment together. If you haven’t already, please take a moment to RSVP to ensure we have plenty of food. We also count on seeing you there to sign your union authorization card!
Finally on Thursday the 19th, hundreds of faculty, staff, and students will come together at a Rally for Whitman Workers! This is the time to show our numbers and let the administration know we’re serious about making our workplace safe and sustainable for everyone. We’ll deliver our letter of majority intent to form a union and demand the administration voluntarily recognize our union and begin collective bargaining. Can’t wait to see you there!
